American Singer Fights Body-Shaming with Powerful Message

American singer Lizzo takes a stand against body shaming, delivering a powerful message to inspire self-acceptance and positivity.

American singer Lizzo frequently encounters a barrage of negative comments on social media, specifically targeting her body. Sadly, this is an ongoing struggle she faces daily, as countless individuals feel entitled to pass judgment on her dietary habits.

Despite addressing this issue in the past, the situation remains unchanged. Once again, she turned to social media to express the detrimental impact of these comments on her well-being.

A video of her performance was shared on Twitter by one individual.

After a video surfaced with comments questioning Lizzo’s weight despite her energetic stage performances, writing “How is Lizzo still THIS fat when she’s constantly moving this much on stage?! I wonder what she must be eating,” more negative remarks followed. One comment suggested she must consume excessive fast food. Overwhelmed by the onslaught, Lizzo felt compelled to respond to these derogatory statements.

Lizzo said: “I JUST logged on this app and this is the type of nonsense I see about me on a daily basis. It’s really starting to make me hate the world.” In response to the individual who believes she consumes excessive junk food, she offered a retort: “I LITERALLY STOPPED EATING FAST FOOD YEARS AGO.” Expressing exhaustion, she voiced her frustration with the constant need to justify herself and witnessing her name entangled in such dreadful discussions.

The American singer emphatically stated her intention to embrace her body as is, without any desire for transformation.

One commented: “I don’t think Lizzie wants to be smaller…yet…if she did, she would be. It’s her brand. If she’s working with nutritionists, they’re probably showing her how to eat healthy and maintain her size.”

Lizzo added: “I’m not trying to BE fat. I’m not trying to BE smaller. I’m literally just trying to live and be healthy. This is what my body looks like even when I’m eating super clean and working out!”

“Y’all speak on things y’all know NOTHING ABOUT, and I’m starting to get heated. I HATE IT HERE. Y’all don’t know how close I be to giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my money and my man on a FARM,” she continued.

She has addressed body shaming on previous occasions as well.

In 2023, the singer took to TikTok once more to address the ongoing challenges of body shaming she continues to face. She said: “The discourse around bodies is officially tired. I have seen comments go from ’Oh my gosh, I liked you when you were thick. Why did you lose weight?’ to ’Oh my gosh, you’re so big’ or ’You need to lose weight, but for your health.’ Do you see the delusion?”

She continued: “Do we realize that artists are not here to fit into your beauty standards? Artists are here to make art, and this body is art, and I’m gonna do whatever I want with this body. I wish that comments costed y’all money, so we can see how much time we are wasting on the wrong thing.”

Lizzo embraces her remarkable life journey and refuses to sacrifice her happiness to please others. The American singer proudly embraces her size and chooses not to alter it, a choice we wholeheartedly admire.
