Dos and don’ts exist as a manual to guide you through a better journey. Flights can be pleasant, but they can be stressful, too. You should be aware of some things you should do while up in the air.
Viral Strange has prepared a list of dos and don’ts during a flight.
1. CLOGGED EARS
The pressure difference might make your ears become clogged while taking off. To minimize it, do this:
• Sucking, swallowing, or chewing. Adults usually use chewing gum, while kids can drink water.
• Open and close your mouth.
• “Blow off” your ears: breathe in, pinch your nose, and breathe out.
If your ears are still clogged, you need to visit a doctor.
2. CONTACT LENSES
The air inside the plane is drier. On the other hand, contact lenses make the eyes drier. Wear glasses to be more comfortable, and use eye drops.
3. STUFFY NOSE
A stuffy nose combined with pressure can lead to trauma. Do not be afraid to use vasoconstrictive drops to use before taking off. Sinusitis and maxillitis, though, are serious matters for air trips. Consult a doctor.
4. SITTING WITHOUT MOVEMENTS
Blood circulation is slower during a flight. If you sit without any movement, you might increase the risks of thrombosis. Do this instead:
• Take short walks around the cabin if possible.
• Wear loose clothing.
• Take your shoes off during the flight if possible.
• Take compression socks if you have blood circulation issues.
• Lift and drop your toes and heels once in a while.
5. DRINKING SODAS
Carbonated drinks can stimulate gassiness during a flight. Also, avoid flatulence-increasing foods like brown bread, beans, apples, etc.
6. MOTION SICKNESS
Do not sit in the back seats if you have motion sickness. Try to choose the front seats instead. Also, one day before the flight, do not eat fried foods or consume alcohol.
7. TOUCHING OBJECTS AROUND YOU
There are lots of bacteria sitting on a plane. Former passengers can leave anything, as well. Bacteria can migrate to your hands, so take alcohol wipes with you.
8. USING PHONES ONBOARD
The signals of your phone can interfere with radio communication and the plane’s navigation system. Do not use your phone, and it is better to turn it off because it still may overlap with the frequency of aircraft devices even if it is locked.
9. AIRPLANE HEADPHONES
Airplane headphones get cleaned and repacked. However, they are not cleaned properly. You better bring yours.
10. EXPOSING YOUR FEET TO GERMS
Not only is it rude, but going barefoot on the plane is unsanitary and will expose your feet to germs on the floors.
Have you ever done any of these? How is your trip usually? Any problems during a flight? Do you know any other dos and don’ts? Tell us in the comments.
