Leo Blanco Began Surgery at 15 to Look Like Michael Jackson
Leo Blanco looks so much like Michael Jackson today that a quick glance at some of his photos can easily make people do a double take.
But pictures from his childhood and teenage years tell a very different story. The Argentinian performer has spent years changing his appearance to resemble the King of Pop, and he reportedly started having cosmetic surgery when he was just 15.
Blanco has built a career as a Michael Jackson tribute performer, recreating the singer’s famous outfits, dance moves and stage presence.
His resemblance to Jackson has become a major part of his public image, but it did not happen naturally or overnight.
Old photographs of Blanco have occasionally resurfaced on social media, showing what he looked like before the procedures began. Compared with his appearance today, the difference is dramatic.
Over the years, Leo Blanco has reportedly undergone more than 11 surgeries, along with several other cosmetic treatments, as part of his attempt to get closer to Jackson’s appearance.
According to the Mirror, his procedures have included four rhinoplasties, two operations to reshape his ears and three liposuction procedures. He has also reportedly used Botox and hyaluronic acid treatments to create more pronounced cheekbones.
His first surgery came at only 15 years old.
For Blanco, however, the transformation was never simply about wanting to resemble a celebrity. He has spoken openly about how deeply connected he felt to Jackson and his work.
“Michael Jackson is much more than an artist for me,” he previously told Barcroft TV.
Blanco said he spent years watching Jackson closely, listening to his music and studying the smallest details of his performances.
The more he absorbed Jackson’s movements and style, the more uncomfortable he became with the fact that his own appearance looked nothing like the person he was portraying on stage.
“I watched Michael constantly, I listened to him, I felt him,” he explained. “I felt his essence.”
Eventually, that feeling pushed him toward cosmetic surgery.
For most tribute performers, dressing like their idol and learning their choreography might be enough. For Leo Blanco, it wasn’t. He wanted the transformation to extend beyond costumes and performances.
He began to see his own appearance as something he could actively redesign.
Blanco once described himself as something similar to a material that could be shaped and changed. Rather than simply accepting the face he was born with, he felt he should be able to decide what he wanted to look like.
“I like to think that I am a paste, something that I can mould, something that I can decide about,” he said.
He also compared changing his body to creating art on an empty surface. In his eyes, cosmetic procedures became another way of expressing himself.
“I feel that the body is a container and I can modify it in an artistic way,” he explained.
That attitude also helps explain why the procedures didn’t stop after one or two surgeries.
In a 2019 interview, Blanco admitted that cosmetic surgery could leave him wanting to make another change almost immediately.
“It’s impossible to have just one or two surgeries done, you want more and more,” he said.
At the time, he said there were “no limits” when it came to continuing his transformation.
That transformation becomes particularly striking when his current photographs are placed beside pictures from his younger years.
Leo Blanco has shared some of those old images himself, including photographs of himself as a child. In one post, he celebrated his younger self with a message about remembering the child inside everyone.
Another post showed what he looked like around a decade earlier. Blanco admitted that sharing the picture made him feel embarrassed, but posted it anyway.
The contrast quickly caught people’s attention.
In the older images, Blanco looks almost completely different from the Michael Jackson-inspired appearance people now associate with him.
His nose, jawline, cheekbones, hair and overall facial appearance have changed considerably over the years.
Yet despite the attention surrounding his surgeries, Blanco’s fascination with Jackson is still closely tied to performing.
He does not simply dress up for photographs or post lookalike content online. Performing as Michael Jackson has become his profession.

Blanco has continued appearing on stage in elaborate tribute productions celebrating the late singer’s music and performances. Recent posts have promoted his “Michael Jackson Live Experience” at the Canning Theatre in Argentina.
The production was promoted as a major celebration of the King of Pop’s world, complete with an ambitious stage show.
For Blanco, it is the continuation of something that began long before the surgeries.
He had spent years studying Jackson, copying his movements and learning the details that made his performances so recognizable. Eventually, looking like Jackson became another part of that process.
Michael Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50, but his influence on performers and fans around the world has continued long after his death.
For Leo Blanco, that influence became especially personal.
What started as admiration eventually shaped his career, his stage identity and even his physical appearance.
And when photographs of the young Leo Blanco appear beside pictures of him today, the scale of that transformation becomes impossible to miss.
