If it weren’t for his groundbreaking talent shows, the world might never have discovered sensations like One Direction or Kelly Clarkson.

Simon began his career in the 1980s as a music producer, consultant, and talent scout. However, it wasn’t until 2001, when he became a judge on Pop Idol, that he became a household name. The show’s success inspired him to create the The X Factor and Got Talent franchises, which have become global phenomena, captivating audiences in countless countries.

Twice named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world, in 2004 and 2010, Simon has had an incredible career.

However, the past few years have been particularly challenging for him. Simon suffered two major accidents: a fall down the stairs and a severe back injury caused by an electric scooter accident.

After undergoing back surgery, Simon used his experience to caution others about the dangers of electric bikes. Reflecting on his accident, he explained, “The one I had was basically a motorcycle with an electric engine. You need a proper crash helmet and leathers for it. This thing was nuts. I didn’t realize how powerful it was until I flew 6-8 feet into the air and landed on my spine.”

On a personal level, Simon is a devoted philanthropist and passionate animal lover. Since 2013, he has been in a relationship with Lauren Silverman, with whom he shares a son, Eric. Their romance sparked controversy, as it began while Lauren was still married to Andrew Silverman, one of Simon’s close friends.

In 2014, Simon and Lauren welcomed their son, Eric. Speaking about fatherhood, Simon shared, “Meeting Lauren and becoming a dad was the most fantastic thing to happen in my life. It’s hard when you have kids at my age, but it’s amazing. When you work as hard as I do, you wonder, ‘What’s it all for?’ Then someone like him comes along, and it’s all worthwhile.”

Simon’s impressive career and entrepreneurial mindset have earned him a net worth of $600 million. Yet, he has revealed that Eric will not inherit his fortune. Instead, Simon plans to leave his wealth to charities, particularly those supporting children and animals.

“I don’t believe in passing on wealth from one generation to another,” he told The Mirror. “Your legacy should be about giving people opportunities, sharing your time, and teaching them what you know.”

Despite this, Simon and Eric share a close bond. The father-son duo loves watching Disney movies and their mutual favorite, Scooby-Doo. “He’s the most amazing thing that ever happened to me. I adore him,” Simon has said.

Eric was named after Simon’s late father, Eric Selig Phillip Cowell, who passed away in 1999. Through his incredible journey, Simon Cowell has built an entertainment empire and discovered a new purpose through fatherhood and philanthropy.
