Breathing through the mouth can cause sleep apnea, a sleep disorder causing a person’s breathing to stop and then start again, doctors say.

Sleep apnea is one of the most serious medical indications. The symptoms might also include loud snoring, insomnia, and fatigue during the day. Sleep apnea can also lead to other health problems, such as heart, liver, and metabolic issues.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a type of disorder when the throat muscles relax and don’t let the air go through the regular way.

2. Dry mouth

The air entering the mouth while breathing dries out the lips, and gums. The natural bacteria living inside our mouths changes, and it can lead to gum problems and tooth decay.

3. Dental and jaw problems

Sleeping and breathing through the mouth can lead to dental and jaw problems, such as crooked teeth, malocclusion, a bad bite, etc.

As you can see here, mouth breathing affects the tongue position, which leads to a bad bite and crooked teeth.

4. A long and narrow face
