With a poignant caption, she openly confessed, “My kidneys have fallen victim to my failure in acknowledging that my high blood pressure necessitated conventional medical treatment. I endangered myself by denying the reality that I required daily, lifelong therapy through medication. For far too long, I held the belief that my body was impervious and indestructible.”
Having earned the title of Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, she faced various health challenges in her later years.
In 2013, she experienced a stroke, followed by an intestinal cancer diagnosis in 2016. Despite these obstacles, Turner’s resilience shone through as she underwent a kidney transplant in April 2017, demonstrating her unwavering determination.
After her death, a recently surfaced video clip revealed Tina Turner’s reasoning behind renouncing her US citizenship and moving to Switzerland. In the clip, she explained that she chose to leave America as her success thrived in another country.
Turner’s partner, Erwin Bach, moved to Switzerland for work. She desired to live there, so upon marrying him, she became a Swiss citizen. They had been in Switzerland for years, even buying a weekend retreat in January 2022.
