One day, with not much to do, Julia decided to surprise her husband at work.
She would bring him his favorite dish, lasagna.
Excited to see him, she arrived at his office only to be told by a coworker that Ben had taken two weeks off.
Confused, Julia wondered how he could be on vacation when he left home each morning and returned late.
While he always claimed he was overloaded with work.
She asked again, and the answer was the same.
Puzzled, Julia went home, trying to make sense of where her husband could be going each day.
That evening, she chose not to confront him but planned to follow him the next morning.
After arranging for her mother to take the kids to school, Julia trailed Ben across town.
When he finally stopped—at her sister’s house.
Shocked, Julia wondered if Ben could be having an affair with her own sister.
Julia was in disbelief!
She knew Ben and her sister Kate were close.
Even though she couldn’t understand why he’d go there instead of work.
Trying to stay calm, she watched from a distance and saw Ben and Kate at a table. They were surrounded by papers.
Unsure of what to do, she called their family lawyer, Carla, who she trusted.
After Julia explained everything, Carla advised, “Before you jump to conclusions, gather some concrete evidence. It’s important to be sure before taking any steps.”
Taking Carla’s advice, Julia returned to Kate’s house and took photos of Ben and Kate together.
They seemed to be deeply involved in planning something, but what?
Back in her car, Julia called Kate’s husband, James, distressed.
“James, it’s Julia. I need to talk to you about Ben and Kate,” she said, her voice trembling.
“Julia, calm down. What’s going on?” he replied.
“I think they’re having an affair,” she said anxiously. “What should I do?”
“Julia, don’t be ridiculous. They’re not cheating on you. I swear it. What makes you think that?” James asked, trying to reassure her.
“I have my reasons,” she replied. “You’ll see. I’ll prove it.”
Unable to contain her suspicions, Julia returned to Kate’s house and overheard her sister talking on the phone.
“Julia just called me,” she heard James say. “She thinks you two are having an affair.”
Ben nodded, “So, she’s still unaware of everything.”
“That’s perfect!” Kate replied with excitement.
“Our plan is working,” Ben added.
That was enough for Julia. She stormed in, confronting Ben and Kate.
“You lying, cheating traitors! How could you do this to me?”
Ben rose and tried to calm her down, pleading to explain. “Explain what? That my husband is cheating on me with my sister?” Julia cried, overwhelmed with emotion.
“Julia, it’s not what you think,” Ben said gently. “I took time off work to plan a surprise for you.”
“A surprise? And meeting at Kate’s house every day is part of it?” Julia said angrily.
“Yes,” Ben replied steadily. “I was working to make your dream come true. You’ve always talked about owning a coffee shop.”
Kate stepped forward, holding some paperwork. “Ben used his inheritance to buy a coffee shop for you.
We’ve been working on the business plan and handling the legal details here.”
Julia was stunned. “A coffee shop? For me?”
Ben nodded and explained that he’d enlisted Kate and James as co-investors to help bring the vision to life.
“These are the documents: the lease, renovation plans—everything. I wanted it to be perfect before I told you.”
Julia couldn’t believe what she was hearing. A coffee shop—her lifelong dream. And her husband had been making it a reality.
“Oh, Ben… I’m so sorry. I thought you were…”
“I know,” he said, hugging her tightly. “Just wanted to surprise you, to see your face when I handed you the keys.”
“Damn, I’m such a fool,” Julia sobbed, overwhelmed with regret. “I’m so sorry.”
“Shh, it’s okay. I understand. But Julia, I love you. I would never betray you.”
The next morning, Julia, Ben, Kate, and James went together to sign the final papers.
Julia couldn’t believe she finally owned her coffee shop. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee reminded her of Ben’s unwavering love.
Together, they transformed the shop into a magical place, where dreams came true, and love and trust were the secret ingredients in every recipe.
Reflecting on everything, Julia realized she should never have doubted her husband.
