The announcement comes just weeks after Park Bom decided to step away from performing with her iconic K-pop group, 2NE1.
Fans of the South Korean pop star were left shocked and confused after reports circulated online claiming she had filed an enormous lawsuit against the CEO of her former management company. As the rumor gained traction across social media, Bom’s current agency swiftly released an official statement to clarify the situation.
Bom, once a central member of the world-renowned group 2NE1, had shared what appeared to be details of a legal complaint on social media earlier this week. The post seemed to indicate that the lawsuit was directed at Yang Hyun-suk, the founder of YG Entertainment.

In the now-deleted Instagram post, Bom uploaded an image resembling an official legal document that listed her as the plaintiff and Yang Hyun-suk as the defendant. The supposed claim stated she was suing him for a staggering 64,272,000,000,000,000 won — a figure so unbelievable that it immediately caught global attention.
To put it into perspective, South Korea’s total GDP is about 2.61 quadrillion won (around $1.87 trillion USD). The amount Bom mentioned would exceed that by over a thousand times. The document even described the figure as “100,200,300,400,600,700,100,000,34 ’642,72e trillion won” — roughly $4.5 quadrillion — making it one of the most bizarre celebrity lawsuit amounts ever seen.
In her caption, Bom accused Yang Hyun-suk of “fraud and embezzlement,” adding that she was owed “profits that should have been rightfully paid… for a long period of time.” Though the post was deleted shortly after, screenshots spread rapidly across fan forums and media outlets, prompting her agency, D-Nation, to respond.

In an official Instagram statement, D-Nation clarified:
“The settlement related to Park Bom’s 2NE1 activities has already been completed, and the complaint uploaded on social media has not been received. Park Bom has suspended all activities and is currently focusing on treatment and recovery.”
They added, “Our company will do its best to help the artist regain her health.”
The controversy comes just a year after 2NE1’s emotional reunion under YG Entertainment to celebrate their 15th anniversary — a milestone that had reignited nostalgia and joy among fans worldwide.
Known for their bold fusion of hip-hop, reggae, and electronic influences, 2NE1 became one of the most powerful girl groups in K-pop history before officially disbanding in 2016. The group’s original lineup — CL (Lee Chae-rin), Sandara Park, Gong Min-ji (Minzy), and Bom — reunited for the Welcome Back Tour from October 2024 to April 2025, which drew massive crowds across Asia and beyond.
In August, however, D-Nation announced that Park Bom would be stepping away from future 2NE1 activities after doctors advised her to take an extended break to focus on rest and recovery.
Formed by YG Entertainment in 2009, 2NE1 first gained attention through BigBang’s “Lollipop” music video before officially debuting with their explosive hit “Fire.” By 2014, the group had achieved nine number-one singles on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart, solidifying their legacy as one of the nation’s most successful girl groups.
After Minzy’s departure, the band disbanded in 2017, releasing their farewell song “Goodbye,” which marked the end of an era in K-pop. However, their surprise Coachella performance in 2022 rekindled global excitement — leading to their long-awaited reunion the following year.
Now, as confusion swirls around Bom’s alleged lawsuit, fans are left wondering what lies ahead for the beloved singer’s career and her future with 2NE1.
