Donald and Melania Trump’s son, Barron Trump, recently made headlines after reportedly shutting down an entire floor of Trump Tower for a private date.
A source told Page Six that while bringing a date to a skyscraper with your family name emblazoned on it might seem like the ultimate power move, the decision was actually driven by security concerns.
The 19-year-old, who remains under heavy protection, needed an entire floor cleared for the romantic meet-up, according to a source briefed on the matter.
Although he arranged the date in New York, Barron is currently based in Washington, D.C. The New York Post previously reported that the former first son is living at the White House while attending classes at NYU’s D.C. campus, which officially began on September 2. The program offers courses in politics, public policy, history, economics, and journalism.
Standing at an imposing 6’7″, Barron has already drawn plenty of attention on campus. A fellow student recalled his freshman year at NYU’s main Greenwich Village campus, saying, “He’s tall and awkward, but he was the thing, the guy. He had a lot of girls running after him.”
Back in December, another source told People, “He’s at [NYU’s Stern School of Business] so he’s studying business in some way. He’s a ladies’ man for sure. He’s really popular with the ladies. He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive.”
That popularity, however, comes with challenges. A source revealed earlier this year that Barron avoids giving out his personal phone number to classmates for fear it might leak. Instead, he keeps in touch with friends through the Xbox gaming console’s chat system.
“It’s his work around,” the source explained. “He’s still troubleshooting.” They added, “If people get the number, they would give it out and then a million people would be calling nonstop. You’d have to change the number constantly and it’d become a merry-go-round.”
