Gracie Bon, a 26-year-old woman from Panama, recently shared a video on Instagram that sheds light on the challenges she faces as a plus-sized individual during flights.

In the clip, she can be seen pouting while attempting to fasten her seatbelt on the plane. Later on, she is depicted walking through the airport on a moving walkway, smiling and proudly displaying her figure.

The blogger has stated that “Airplanes are too small for big people. It’s 2024. Bodies are changing, so planes should too. I won’t lose my butt to fit on a plane. So give me another solution, or just make the seats bigger.”

She added, “So today I had a flight and even if I was flying in first class, I couldn’t fit on the airplane — so this is a petition for all the airlines so big girls like me can fly.”

The model emphasized that her large bottom isn’t her fault and urged the airline to accommodate this by making their seats larger. Gracie’s Instagram video went viral, with over 81k likes. However, many disagreed with her viewpoint and shared their opinions.

One user wrote, “Buy two seats instead of one; clearly, you’ve got plenty of money to afford them.” Another commented, “Whose fault is it? No one forced you to get the surgeries.”

Several individuals were prompted to show their support for the blogger. For example, one individual expressed their solidarity, saying, “Agreed. I definitely need a larger seat and a seatbelt that doesn’t have such a hard buckle.” Another said, “The only surgery she has had was a tummy tuck. Her hips are naturally that large.”

Gracie openly admitted to undergoing a tummy tuck surgery and shared before-and-after photos.

The blogger said, “And even so, many tell me: ‘but if you had loved it, you would have stayed like this and not changed anything about you.’ The truth is that I loved my body so much that I wanted to take care of it and decided to save myself, I didn’t like my knee pain, not being able to breathe properly or rejection from my ex-partner at that time, so I did everything possible to lose weight.”

Air travel poses unique challenges, irrespective of one’s physique or stature. Thus, we empathize with Gracie’s frustration. What do you think? Is her complaint relatable? Let us know in the comments below.
