The fires, which forced nearly 200,000 people to evacuate, have destroyed over 11,000 homes, with 24 lives lost in one of the worst wildfires in US history.

Dalyce Curry, an extra in The Blues Brothers, was found dead. The cause of death confirmed by a doctor.

Her granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, expressing her deep sorrow over the loss of her “beloved grandmother.” She wrote, “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

Kelley last saw her grandmother around midnight on January 7, the night the fires began wreaking havoc across Southern California and her home was destroyed by fire.

“With a heavy heart, I share that our search for Momma D has come to an end,” Beamer-Wilkinson wrote, describing her grandmother as an extraordinary woman who radiated positivity and kindness. She added, “Her story is one of breaking barriers, overcoming challenges, and spreading love wherever she went.”

Curry had a notable career, appearing in both The Blues Brothers and The Ten Commandments.

Timeline of the Los Angeles Wildfires:

January 2

The National Weather Service issued an early warning of strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions, increasing the fire risk in Southern California.

January 7

The first fire, the Palisades Fire, ignited, prompting evacuation alerts for the Los Angeles area. That same day, the Eaton Fire and the Hurst Fire broke out, exacerbated by wind gusts up to 99 mph.

January 9

Inmates from California’s prisons were sent to assist in firefighting efforts, with 939 prisoners helping on the front lines.

January 10

Authorities arrested an individual suspected of intentionally starting the Kenneth Fire. Southern California Edison is under investigation for a possible link to the Hurst Fire, as equipment failure on January 7 may have played a role.

January 13

The fires had burned over 40,000 acres, with more than 12,000 buildings destroyed. The death toll rose to 24, and at least 16 people remained missing.
