In late March, police raided Jin Gu, a Chinese restaurant, following complaints from locals about foul odors and suspicious activities. The inspection uncovered plucked pigeons, believed to have been caught from the streets and killed on-site, being served as ‘roast duck’.

Additionally, eight freezers contained unlabelled meats and seafood without proper temperature controls.

Authorities discovered a concealed room behind a shelf in the disabled toilet, housing approximately 300 kilograms of spoiled food in rusty freezers.

The kitchen of the Chinese restaurant was infested with cockroaches, and rat traps baited with meat were found throughout the premises. Meat strips were seen drying on clotheslines, and the ventilation system was makeshift and unhygienic.

The restaurant owner is under investigation for public health violations, animal cruelty, and consumer rights infringements.

Despite holding a 4.2-star rating on Google, locals reported longstanding concerns about the Chinese restaurant’s hygiene and food handling practices. One resident noted the persistent bad smell and observed food deliveries left unattended at the entrance.
