The “Drake-alike Challenge” took over Toronto on Saturday, drawing a massive crowd with fans channeling every version of Drizzy — from “Ozempic Drake” to “Girl Drake.” One standout participant, Anthony Po, even dressed as Drake’s son, Adonis.
Interestingly, Anthony played a key role in sparking this trend earlier this year with a Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest in New York City, where the prize was a mere $50. Times have clearly changed, as Drake himself reportedly funded the $10,000 prize awarded to Saturday’s winner, Makayla Chambers, aka “Girl Drizzy.”
While Makayla walked away with the cash, the event may have been a win for Drake’s ego, which took a hit during his recent rap feud with Kendrick Lamar.
Kendrick’s scathing track, “Not Like Us,” handed Drake a decisive defeat, and months later, Drake responded by suing Universal Music Group — his own label — accusing them of orchestrating a “pay-for-play” scheme to amplify Kendrick’s success.
Despite the bad PR and the rap beef fallout, Drake still emerged as Spotify’s most-streamed rapper of the year, proving his staying power.
And with crowds eagerly showing up to celebrate him at the look-alike contest, it’s clear that a Drake comeback might just be on the horizon.
