The European Space Agency (ESA) is offering €5,000 (around $5,500 USD) to volunteers willing to spend 10 straight days lying in bed as part of a new scientific study.
The experiment is designed to mimic the effects of microgravity on the human body — conditions similar to those astronauts face during long missions in space. Researchers hope the findings will shed light on how extended weightlessness impacts heart function, metabolism, and muscle strength.
To qualify, participants must meet strict health requirements and undergo multiple medical evaluations before and during the study. Beyond space research, the results could also benefit patients who require prolonged bed rest due to illness or injury.
