A Florida nurse accused of engaging in sexual activity with her 15-year-old stepson offered a troubling defense after her husband reportedly discovered them in bed together.
In July, 35-year-old Alexis von Yates was allegedly found naked under a blanket after engaging in sexual activity with her stepson. The incident occurred while the teen was on vacation visiting his father in Ocala, Florida.
According to the arrest affidavit, the father, who works as a lineman with late hours, came home and allegedly found Yates and the teen in the act. The confrontation led to a heated argument between the couple.
The affidavit states that Yates had been spending time with the teen while caring for his younger siblings. Around 11 p.m., they were relaxing on the couch, vaping THC and playing video games. They later decided to watch a movie, which both found boring. The conversation then turned sexual, and Yates allegedly told the teen she was “h*rny.”
The teen claimed that Yates had been making sexual jokes for about a week before the encounter, eventually leading to sexual activity, including intercourse.
When the husband caught them, Yates reportedly apologized and provided a disturbing justification, telling him the teen “looked like him when he was younger.” The teen refuted Yates’s claim that she told him to stop, insisting that she had moaned and encouraged him to continue.
Yates allegedly said that she hadn’t had sex in two weeks and was on her period. According to the affidavit, the two began kissing, cuddling, engaging in oral sex, and having unprotected intercourse.
The teen was then taken to his grandparents’ house for the night. The following morning, he claimed to have received a phone call from Yates, who expressed hope that they hadn’t been caught and referred to the events as them having been “edging” into the early morning. She also allegedly rated his sexual performance a “seven out of 10” and made comparisons between his and his father’s appearances, including unsettling references to their genitalia.
Yates later reported to the police that she and the teen had not communicated since the incident, although the teen had sent her messages on Facebook, which she claimed she had not responded to.
Following the discovery, Yates allegedly blamed the teen, calling him a “master manipulator.” Some family members, including his father, initially placed blame on the teen as well. However, the father later reassured his son that he was on his side and would testify against Yates in court.
Yates’ nursing license was revoked after her arrest. She was charged with sexually assaulting a minor between the ages of 12 and 16. In December, she entered a not guilty plea and is awaiting trial.
