It’s no secret that eyebrows have become the ultimate playground for beauty experimentation. A quick scroll through social media reveals everything from unicorn-inspired shapes to Nike swooshes and fishtail designs. But just when it seemed like you’d seen it all, a new, whimsical twist entered the scene — halo brows.
Like many of today’s unconventional beauty trends, halo brows owe their fame to the ever-inventive world of social media. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram continue to spark trends that blur the line between artistry and absurdity. This particular style — featuring a single arc looping across the forehead to connect both brows — was created by 16-year-old British influencer Hannah Lyne, whose bold doodle quickly went viral.
“So me and [a friend] were talking about the fishtail brow trend & then we came up with this,” Lyne captioned the Instagram post unveiling her now-famous look that left followers both amused and intrigued.
Speaking with PopSugar, the teen clarified that the concept wasn’t meant as a joke, saying the “look was influenced by fishtail brows.”
“I was having a conversation with a friend trying to come up with a new idea for a look, and all of a sudden it came to me that I should connect my brow tails,” she explained.
In another interview with Yahoo Style, Lyne added, “I just want people to embrace being silly and doing weird, creative looks!”
A “Ridiculous” Fad or a Creative Revolution?
As with most viral trends, the internet had mixed feelings. Some praised Lyne’s artistic flair, flooding the comments with admiration. “I love it!” one user gushed, while another wrote, “All of your looks are so original… Honestly your talent is endless!” A third chimed in, “How on Earth do you come up with your ideas? They’re so creative and you always execute them so well! You’re incredibly talented.”
But not everyone was convinced. Many dismissed the connected-brow creation as a “ridiculous” fad. “Vomits Uncontrollably,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “I can’t tell if she’s joking.” A third quipped, “Instagram? More like Instaregret.” Others went as far as saying the look was “ridiculous,” joking they might “delete Instagram because of this photo.”
Still, not all feedback was harsh. Cosmopolitan described the “heavenly halo brows” as “strangely beautiful,” writing, “Prepare to meet the unconventional, yet gorgeous work of arch.”
Whether you love it or loathe it, there’s no denying halo brows prove one thing: creativity in beauty knows no bounds. After all, makeup is all about expression — whether that means one brow, two brows, or one big loop connecting them both.
