Can Rats Swim Up Toilets?

Rats are drawn to the smells in sewer lines and can climb vent stacks. Once they find a way down a drainpipe, they swim upward, arriving in your toilet bowl.
If you find a rat in your toilet, stay calm. Panicking might scare the rat, causing it to hide in less accessible areas. Close the lid and place a heavy object on top. Call pest control to handle the situation safely.
