MACOMB COUNTY — A two-day enforcement sweep across Macomb County led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of gambling machines, cash, and vehicles in a coordinated crackdown on illegal gambling operations.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office carried out search warrants on August 11 and 12 at multiple locations, including Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, Macomb Township, and Washington Township. The operation, directed by the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team, targeted businesses and private residences suspected of hosting illicit gambling activities.
Authorities reported seizing a total of 10 gambling machines, three vehicles, and more than $17,000 in cash.
Day One Raids
On Monday, August 11, deputies executed warrants at the Floral Cafe in Macomb Township, along with homes in Sterling Heights and Clinton Township. Two suspects, Mirela Deda, 53, and Alban Hulaj, 33, were arrested. Investigators confiscated five gambling machines, one vehicle, and over $5,000 in cash.
Day Two Raids
The following day, search warrants were executed at the Kelmendi Cafe in Macomb Township and a Washington Township residence. Authorities arrested Alban Preka, 43, and Trifon Mone, 57 of Sterling Heights. Five more gambling machines were recovered, along with two vehicles and over $12,000 in cash.
Charges Filed
All four suspects face charges of operating a gambling business and conspiracy to commit gambling, both serious felony offenses carrying potential prison sentences of up to 10 years. Additionally, Deda, Preka, and Mone have been charged with maintaining a gambling house, a high misdemeanor offense.
The Sheriff’s Office stated the bust was part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal gambling across the county.
