Instagram has rolled out a new update making it simpler for users to reshare publicly shared content on the platform. The update adds a built-in reposting feature — allowing users to share public account’s stories directly to their own profile as a story.
What we know about Stories resharing
Historically, Instagram allowed sharing of other people’s content to Stories — but often required that the original post be from a public account and that the poster had enabled “resharing.”
According to previous guides, to share a Story from another user to your own Story, you either need to be tagged in their Story or rely on a workaround (like screenshot or screen recording). This feature will now be dismissed with the new IG update.
What this means for users
The new feature streamlines resharing: fewer hacks, better credit to original creators. For public content, it’s now easier to amplify stories you like or find worth sharing — directly to your profile story.
