On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, marking his return to the White House. By his side was First Lady Melania Trump, whose interactions with her husband during the ceremony caught the attention of many.
As President Trump leaned in to kiss Melania, her wide-brimmed hat, designed by Eric Javits, inadvertently obstructed the gesture, resulting in an air kiss. This seemingly awkward moment sparked discussions about the couple’s non-verbal communication.
Body language expert Judi James analyzed the incident, noting that President Trump approached the event with a “slow alpha presence” and a “mouth shrug smile,” indicating a serious demeanor. When he reached for Melania’s hand in a tender, romantic gesture reminiscent of a wedding ceremony, it suggested a desire to showcase unity.
However, as Trump leaned in for what appeared to be a lip-to-lip kiss, Melania turned her face, initiating a cheek kiss instead. Despite the misaligned intentions, the body language expert observed that Melania beamed at her husband afterward, signaling acknowledgment and a sense of partnership.
This brief interaction, though slightly out of sync, highlighted the couple’s efforts to present a united front during the inauguration. The First Lady’s choice of attire, particularly the statement hat, may have unintentionally created a physical barrier, yet their subsequent smiles and hand-holding conveyed mutual support and connection.
Such moments offer a glimpse into the personal dynamics of public figures, reminding us of the complexities inherent in both verbal and non-verbal communication on the world stage.
Why does every little thing these two do have to be analyzed? If you will notice, most of the time a kiss like goes on each side of the cheeks. I do believe this is part of her growing up in Europe, since they acknowledge this way most of the time. Maybe she just didn’t want her lipstick smeared. Why not go and ask her yourself instead of wanting someone “expert” opinion,
the hat made itpossible for lips tp touch…she gave it a secod chance by at least getting her kiss on her cheek!
