As someone who works in social media, Estelle had long been aware of the pressures to present a picture-perfect image online. She had also battled her own insecurities, particularly after a traumatic ectopic pregnancy left her with scars and a complicated relationship with her body.
Determined to challenge unrealistic beauty standards, she wanted her children—and the world—to see the real her, without shame or filters.
Stepping Out of Her Comfort Zone
A year after her Spain trip, Estelle found herself on vacation in Corfu. This time, she took a small step—going topless on the beach. While liberating, it wasn’t the full experience she longed for.
As her 40th birthday approached in 2022, she made a bold decision: she would fully embrace nudism. When she shared her plan with Sarah, her friend was shocked but quickly agreed. They booked flights to Spain, ready to push past their fears.
At first, stripping down felt daunting. Having grown up in conservative Britain, where nudity is often sexualized, Estelle hesitated. But sitting on the sand, she and Sarah talked it through. “I posted about my experience on social media—where I have nearly 10,000 followers—and was thrilled by the positive response,” Estelle said. “So many people understood it, and I hope some will even give it a try themselves.”
Mixed Reactions and Advocacy Work
Not everyone was as supportive. Her sons, unsurprisingly, were mortified. “When they walked into my office and saw my nude photos on a vision board, they shouted at me to cover them up!” she laughed.
But beyond personal liberation, Estelle has used her nudist journey to advocate for body positivity. She actively campaigns for social media platforms to allow images that promote self-acceptance, including fighting against Facebook’s removal of breast cancer survivors’ tattooed nipples. Her activism even led her to wear an inflatable boob costume outside Meta’s London headquarters—an effort that helped change the company’s policies.
In addition, Estelle now visits schools, speaking about healthy social media use and the dangers of unrealistic beauty standards.
For her, nudism isn’t just about shedding clothes—it’s about shedding insecurities, embracing authenticity, and challenging societal norms. While her journey may not be for everyone, Estelle has never felt more confident in her own skin.
