Lupita and Carmen Andrade, a pair of 22-year-old conjoined twin sisters from Connecticut, candidly shared insights into their dating lives, particularly how they navigate relationships given Lupita’s asexuality.
The sisters, who relocated from Mexico to the United States as infants, are joined at the torso, sharing a pelvis and reproductive system, each possessing two arms but only one leg. Despite their unique circumstances, Carmen has found love with Daniel, whom she met on the dating app Hinge in 2020.

Reflecting on their relationship, Carmen expressed gratitude, saying, “I never tried to hide the fact that I’m a conjoined twin… Daniel was different from the others… he didn’t lead with a question about my condition.
“Describing their relationship dynamics, Carmen explained, “We’ve been together for two and a half years, and we’ve discussed getting engaged, but we want to live together first.”

She also highlighted the importance of compromise, stating, “Sometimes I feel bad because I want to spend so much time with Daniel… (Lupita) will choose where we go out to dinner, or what activity we’re going to do.”
Despite Lupita’s asexuality, she and Daniel share a positive relationship, with Carmen noting, “It’s funny because I stay up later than Lupita, but when Daniel sleeps over, I fall asleep quickly — and he stays up talking with her.”

Regarding their future plans, Carmen revealed, “We can’t have kids, we don’t want kids and my partner feels the same way.”
Additionally, the interview unveiled that due to their separate brains, they can sleep independently, with Carmen stating, “If one of us is tired, we both don’t have to both be tired because we have two separate brains…one of us can be awake and one of us can be asleep because, again, different brains. We are two separate people.”
