Paris Hilton knows this all too well, having spent her life in the public eye and facing the challenges that come with it.
Recently, things took an upsetting turn as internet trolls targeted her young son. Paris, a reality TV star turned successful businesswoman, found herself defending her 9-month-old son, Phoenix Barron, against negative comments on social media about the size of his head.
Known for her strong sense of self, Paris quickly stood up for her firstborn. She and her husband, Carter Reum, welcomed Phoenix into their family earlier this year via surrogate, celebrating their first child together (Reum has a daughter named Evie from a prior relationship). As new parents, they have embraced the joy and learning that comes with raising their son.
During a recent family visit to New York, Paris shared a photo of herself holding Phoenix.
Cruel comments about her son’s head size soon appeared in the comments section. Hurtful messages like, “Man got a lot of thoughts up there” and “I heard this baby was created in a lab. And she didn’t carry it,” surfaced, joined by additional negative remarks from others.
In response, Paris voiced her frustration with the unnecessary criticism, stating, “There are some sick people in this world. My angel is perfectly healthy. And yes, of course he has been to a doctor, he just has a large brain.”
Paris added, “[My parents] are just so obsessed with him. I’m always calling my mom and my sister [Nicky Hilton] for advice, and I’m really lucky that I’m so close with my family, so I have such a big support group.”
This recent incident highlights how even celebrities are not immune to online hate. Children should be off-limits from such negativity, yet Paris’ response shows the deep love and commitment she has to protect her son from cruel commentary.
