The Mexican influencer was shot and killed while in her Mercedes in broad daylight. Fedra Oded Gaxiola Orozco lost her life in what authorities have labeled a “targeted ambush” in Tijuana.
The attack occurred on Thursday. Orozco was parked outside the Hardcore Fitness Gym in the López Lucio neighborhood, sitting inside her vehicle when gunmen opened fire. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors could only pronounce her dead upon arrival.
The shooter and accomplices fled the scene. Witnesses reported that the attackers escaped in a gray vehicle, prompting police to launch a manhunt across the area. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
Fedra Gaxiola, a model and influencer originally from the state of Sinaloa in northwestern Mexico, had over 200,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok. She frequently collaborated with sportswear brands.
This is not the first time similar incidents have occurred in Mexico. Earlier this year, another influencer, Vielka Pulido, and her boyfriend, Joel Abraham Chavez, were shot and killed outside a gym in the Santa Cruz Buenavista neighborhood.
Investigators revealed that the couple was “brutally murdered with 26 gunshots.” However, that case remains unsolved. Authorities suspect the gunmen may have been targeting the man, with the woman caught in the crossfire.
