A widely shared image has recently gone viral on social media. The graphic shows a world map overlaid with figures and bold text reading: “White people be like gotta help the minorities. At 8% of the world in 2021, whites are on the verge of extinction.”

Demographers emphasize that defining “white” globally is difficult because racial and ethnic classifications vary widely from region to region. Many recent global‐population breakdowns estimate that people commonly categorized as “white” (broadly people of European descent and related diaspora) make up roughly 10-16% of the world’s total population.
For example, some sources put the “white / Caucasian” share at about 12.5% as of 2025. Others using narrower definitions or stricter regional criteria suggest numbers closer to 10–12%.
