Shelbey Hennick is the granddaughter anyone would wish for.
At 21, this compassionate young woman knows just how to bring a smile to her grandma Donna’s face.
She needed to put in a bit more effort to lift her lovely grandma’s spirits
Donna fell ill and went to the hospital, and Shelbey was determined to lift her spirits in any way she could. She considered many ideas; however, one quickly rose to the top as the perfect choice.
Shelbey planned a tricky surprise: she was determined to bring Patsy, Donna’s beloved best friend, for a visit.
Patsy is the sweetest little dog whom Donna loves dearly.
Shelbey shared Donna’s story with Inside Edition, explaining that Donna had taken Patsy in as a tiny puppy and had cared for her from day one.
From bottle-feeding her to making sure she had the coziest life possible, Patsy had become an inseparable part of Donna’s life
“She’s had this dog forever, and this dog is her baby. She was small enough to fit in the palm of her hand.”
The way it all played out felt like a scene from a movie. Without time to get permission from the veterinarian to bring Patsy to the hospital, Shelbey came up with a bold idea that had everyone laughing.
She wrapped Patsy in a blanket and entered the hospital, fooling the staff into thinking she was carrying a baby.
“It was just so spur-of-the-moment, and I didn’t have time to go to my grandma’s veterinarian’s office… Nobody would have stopped me to see my baby. The worst they could have told me was to leave.”
Seeing Patsy was the ultimate surprise, instantly brightening Donna’s mood
“It made her a lot happier. She wasn’t feeling very good, and it made her more relaxed. She did go home the next day. Medically, it didn’t have anything to do with Patsy, but I’m still thinking it had a little bit to do with her.”
