According to the self-proclaimed ‘world’s sexiest scientist’, when cane toads are provoked, they can excrete a milky white toxin on their back that is extremely harmful to house pets and can cause distress or death within minutes. She gave the toad the nickname ‘Meatloaf’.

The scientist featured in the video let the creature crawl on her chest, and the absence of any white toxins indicated that Meatloaf was comfortable in her hands.

In the clip, the self-described master free diver and Florida Atlantic University graduate confidently holds the chubby cane toad and gives advice: “If you see a large toad and are worried it may harm your pet, look for the ridges on the head! Cane toads do not have ridges on their heads like southern toads.”

The move has, however, garnered responses, with one commenter saying: ‘One clingy toad. Can only imagine why.’

Another person asked, ‘Huge frog. What if you lick back what happens? LSD?’ Someone else made a jest: ‘But will he [Meatloaf] do anything for love?’ while a third commented, ‘Not the cuddliest of critters!’

Rosie also revealed that someone had inquired: ‘Did you try kissing it?’ She responded, ‘Twice.’
