Sutherland’s son, Kiefer, confirmed the news on social media, paying tribute to his father’s extensive and impactful career: “With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.”

Throughout his career, Sutherland appeared in over 190 films and TV series. His final role was in the 2023 period drama “Miranda’s Victim.” In 2017, he received an Honorary Academy Award, highlighting his significant contributions to the film industry.

One of Sutherland’s most iconic roles in recent years was as President Snow in “The Hunger Games” series. The character’s prequel, “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” released in 2023, featured Tom Blyth portraying a younger Snow.
