Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol in Tampa came to the rescue of an abandoned dog left tied to a fence on Wednesday, just before Hurricane Milton‘s expected landfall.
The FHP shared the incident on X (formerly Twitter), urging pet owners to avoid leaving their animals behind in dangerous situations.

As floodwaters began to rise, the scared and helpless dog stood trembling, unable to escape its situation. It wasn’t until a brave officer part of the Florida troopers arrived that the dog was saved from the imminent threat.
Though initially frightened and growling, the dog eventually responded to the officer’s calm and reassuring voice.
The officer’s persistent care led to the dog’s safe rescue, highlighting the importance of responsible pet ownership during emergencies.
