YouTuber Sleeps with Gun Following Backlash Over Down Syndrome Termination
Popular YouTuber Jesse Ridgway, better known online as McJuggerNuggets, has revealed that he and his wife have been subjected to a flood of abuse and death threats after publicly sharing that they chose to terminate a pregnancy following a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome.
Ridgway recently opened up to his followers about the deeply personal experience, explaining that he and his wife, Ashley, were faced with what he described as an incredibly difficult decision after doctors informed them that their unborn baby had Trisomy 21, the genetic condition commonly known as Down syndrome.
The couple’s announcement quickly ignited heated debate online, drawing both messages of support and harsh criticism.

Couple Opens Up About Difficult Decision
In a statement posted on social media, Ridgway spoke candidly about the emotional toll the situation had taken on both him and his wife.
“The choice was not made lightly.”
“I know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated. This has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley.”
He explained that Ashley had undergone the medical procedure and was recovering physically, though the emotional impact remained significant.
“Thankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally, we are drained.”

Health Concerns Influenced Their Choice
After making the announcement, Ridgway addressed some of the medical complications that can accompany Down syndrome, saying the couple carefully evaluated numerous factors before reaching a decision.
According to him, they considered potential health challenges affecting both their unborn child and Ashley. He described the process as heartbreaking and emphasized that they spent considerable time discussing their options before ultimately moving forward.

Death Threats Follow Public Announcement
Following the revelation, the couple found themselves at the center of intense online backlash.
While many supporters expressed compassion and understanding, Ridgway said others responded with hostility, sending abusive messages and threats.
“The last 24 hours have exposed a side of humanity that is deeply disturbing,” Ridgway wrote.
He claimed that he and Ashley were labeled “murderous pieces of s**t,” compared to Adolf Hitler, and repeatedly threatened with violence.
Speaking with TMZ, Ridgway admitted he was stunned by the scale of the reaction.
“With the death threats and stuff, it’s been shocking,” he said.
The influencer revealed that concerns for their safety have become so serious that they have taken additional measures to protect themselves.
“I have a gun next to my nightstand, because it’s been getting so ridiculous.”
According to Ridgway, security around their home has also been strengthened following the threats.

Messages of Support Continue to Pour In
Despite the wave of criticism, Ridgway said the couple has also received an outpouring of support from people who related to their experience.
He revealed that many mothers contacted them privately after hearing their story, thanking them for speaking openly about a topic that many families struggle with behind closed doors.
“There has never been a more important time to speak up and out about the things that matter. Do not let the vocal minority stop you from sharing your truth.”
Ridgway also offered words of encouragement to others who may one day face a similar situation.
“To those who have been affected by this or are confronted with a similar situation in the future, we have your back and please feel free to reach out.”
