La Plata, Argentina — A woman celebrating her 29th birthday was injured when part of a cinema ceiling collapsed during a screening of Final Destination: Bloodlines, the latest installment in the horror-thriller franchise known for its eerie focus on freak accidents and fatal coincidences.
Fiamma Villaverde had gone to see the film with her daughter and a friend at Cinema Ocho in La Plata. The outing, she said, was spontaneous—they had noticed discounted tickets and decided to watch the movie.
Moments later, a section of the ceiling came crashing down, striking Villaverde on the knee.
She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where she is currently recovering.
The bizarre timing of the accident sparked a wave of reactions online, with many users highlighting the eerie resemblance between the movie’s plot and the real-life incident. Some jokingly referred to the experience as “5D cinema,” while others made darkly humorous comparisons to the film’s core theme—cheating death.
