Kristen Bell has spoken candidly about the ‘regrets’ she had before officially tying the knot with her husband, Dax Shepard.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star, now 45, surprised fans with her unfiltered confession about her sex life prior to marriage. Bell and Shepard, 50, said “I do” in October 2013 — six years after first meeting in 2007. The couple got engaged two years later in 2009 before finally walking down the aisle.
Today, they share two children — Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10. Despite more than a decade of marriage, Bell admitted that she occasionally reflects on her past with a sense of “regret.”
She made the revelation during an episode of her husband’s podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. During the conversation with co-host Monica Padman and guest Justine Lupe, Shepard remarked:
“Kristen is a little regretful, she was very active — she was very sexually active and she wishes she was even more sexually active.”
Bell, who was also part of the discussion, agreed and added:
“I just wish I butterflied around a little bit more.”
Her comments referred to her level of sexual activity in her twenties. When asked to rate herself on a scale from zero — meaning a “virgin” — to ten, representing a “sex worker,” Bell replied:
“Four — and I just wish I maybe would have gone six.”
Shepard followed up by asking if she truly thought she would have preferred being closer to a six.
“Yeah,” Bell responded simply.
This isn’t the first time the couple has shared intimate details about their relationship, often leaving their children somewhat embarrassed. A memorable moment occurred when Drew Barrymore appeared on their podcast last year amid circulating rumors that Bell and Shepard were “swingers” who had hosted several swinger parties.
Shepard later addressed the speculation, saying even close friends had joked about the rumors, asking:
“How could you not have invited me to the swinger party?”
He clarified that their friends were only teasing because they knew the gossip wasn’t true, adding that both he and Bell actually found the chatter “very funny” rather than offensive.
Earlier this summer, Shepard once again made headlines after posting a cheeky photo of Bell posing nude while attempting a handstand in their garden, wearing nothing but bright blue knee-high socks. The risqué image, which had censored sections, was shared as a playful tribute to Bell’s 2025 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Nobody Wants This.
Shepard captioned the photo:
“People might not know everything that happens behind the scenes in order to create an Emmy nominated performance like Kristen’s. This may or may not have been a part of her training, but it felt right. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!”
Although Bell didn’t take home the Emmy — the award went to Jean Smart for her acclaimed role as Deborah Vance in Hacks — her candidness and humor continue to make her one of Hollywood’s most relatable stars.
