Machine Gun Kelly Jokes He Might Be “Part Alien” After Claiming His Mother Was Abducted
Pop-punk star Machine Gun Kelly has opened up about some unusual thoughts surrounding his identity, even suggesting that he could have extraterrestrial roots in his family.
The 35-year-old musician, born Colson Baker, appeared on the U.S. talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last weekend, where the conversation took an unexpected turn from compliments about his youthful looks to speculations about UFOs and alien encounters.
“I just don’t know many facts about my life,” MGK admitted while chatting with Cohen. When the host remarked on how young the rapper looked, MGK replied: “It’s a weird thing, dude. I don’t know if my age… I don’t know if it exists.”
From there, he began reflecting on strange aspects of his life. “I just don’t know many facts about my life. Like my skin, if it rips open, it heals really quick,” he revealed. “There’s just things where I’m starting to be like, ‘Who’s my dad?’”
Family Background
Officially, Machine Gun Kelly’s father is listed as James Colson Baker. MGK was born in Houston, Texas, to Christian missionary parents. His childhood was marked by frequent moves abroad, living in places such as Egypt—where he learned Arabic before English—Kenya, and Germany, before later settling in U.S. states like Colorado and Ohio.
In past interviews, MGK has described his father as “extremely religious and extremely strict,” even recalling how he wasn’t allowed to hold a pen in the way he wanted to.
But in his conversation with Cohen, MGK half-joked that perhaps his father wasn’t really his father at all—and that maybe his DNA connected him to another world.
When Cohen pressed him directly, asking whether he believed he could be from another planet, the rapper-turned-rock star didn’t dismiss the idea: “Yeah, I’ve asked my mom, ‘Was there any period of time you went missing, like off the Earth? Was there ever like a tall slender creature?’”
According to MGK, his mother responded with a startling revelation: “She told me she felt like she got abducted at one point.”

Social Media Reactions
Fans quickly took to social media to react to the comments. One person quipped: “The next time someone asks me my age I’m gonna straight up say I don’t know.” Another joked: “My mama may or may not have had a affair with an extra terrestrial being. Beats saying you’re in your 30s good God.”
Others were more skeptical, with one user writing: “He doesn’t have a birth certificate? That would help.”
Career Choices and Missed Opportunities
On a different note, MGK also opened up about a career opportunity he passed on. He revealed that he had been invited to audition for the horror movie Sinners, which was released in April and went on to gross nearly $366 million worldwide. The film, set in 1932, followed mobster twins from Chicago whose plans to run a juke joint in Mississippi turn into a nightmare when vampires descend on opening night.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show in July, MGK explained why he ultimately refused the audition: “Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that. The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition – it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family.”
But the sticking point was a racial slur written into the script. “I wouldn’t [say the n-word],” he told McAfee. “I have a lot of aspirations to be in movies, it just hasn’t panned out that way. It’ll align. The angels will put something in the works.”
The role he was referencing was eventually played by Peter Dreimanis, and connected later in the storyline to Irish vampire Remmick, portrayed by Jack O’Connell.
MGK on the Big Screen
Despite walking away from Sinners, MGK’s acting career has still taken off in notable ways. In 2018, he appeared in Netflix’s global hit Bird Box. By 2020, he had secured roles in The King of Staten Island and Project Power, where he acted alongside stars like Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
