Sunjay Kapur, a billionaire entrepreneur and close friend of Prince William, tragically passed away on Thursday, June 12, after collapsing during a polo match in Windsor, England. He was 53.
According to reports from The Telegraph and The Mirror, Kapur — chairman of the global automotive components company Sona Comstar — is believed to have suffered a fatal anaphylactic shock, possibly triggered by a bee sting to the mouth during the game.
“He was full of life, laughing, joking — then gone in an instant,” a source told The Mirror.
Witnesses recalled Kapur uttering the words, “I’ve swallowed something,” moments before the medical emergency unfolded, The Telegraph reported.
A close friend shared with Telegraph Sport: “He will be deeply missed — not just by family and friends, but also by the local community around his polo club. He employed many people and formed countless friendships. He was fun, kind, and generous. Whether you were a groom or a high-net-worth guest, he treated everyone equally. At his parties, all were welcome.”
Kapur, known for his passion for polo, frequently played alongside members of the British royal family, including Prince William.
