Luisa Melchionne, 47, who was employed at Nathan Hale Middle School, was arrested on July 11. She faces charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a child, according to the Norwalk Police Department. It is unclear if she has entered a plea.
An arrest warrant published by WFSB reveals that an anonymous caller contacted police in April, claiming to have found inappropriate messages allegedly sent by Melchionne to a student after borrowing her phone.
The caller later provided police with screenshots of alleged text exchanges that included explicit photos and money transactions between Melchionne and the student.
After identifying the child, police interviewed the boy, who stated that Melchionne had sent him nude photos and requested the same from him, according to the warrant. The boy also mentioned that she would send him money for food and Uber rides.
The student, a 7th grader when the interactions began in 2023, told detectives that he would meet Melchionne in her office, where she performed sexual acts, including giving him “lap dances,” as per the warrant.
Melchionne’s defense attorney, Mark Sherman, informed The Hour that his client had resigned from her position at the school. Court records show that she was released on bond.
“These are just accusations,” Sherman said. “What we do know is that these charges are being brought against a devoted wife and mother who has dedicated over 20 years to her profession, and it’s going to take some time to investigate this case.”
A prosecutor noted in court that the boy was 13 years old, according to The Hour.
