Following allegations that a young teacher disregarded warnings regarding inappropriate closeness with students, she has been charged with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old high school student.
Hailey Nichelle Clifton-Carmack, a 26-year-old mother of two from Waynesville, near St. Louis, Missouri, has been charged with several offenses. These charges include first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree statutory rape, sexual contact with a student, and fourth-degree child molestation.
According to official reports, the inappropriate interactions between the teacher and the student reportedly occurred during school hours at Laquey High School, with some students allegedly acting as “lookouts.” The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was alerted to the situation when the school resource officer reported the matter.
Further investigation revealed that a fellow student provided evidence of the inappropriate relationship, including images of scratch marks on the back of the classmate. These marks were allegedly inflicted during an incident that took place in the student’s driveway.
It was noted that Hailey Nichelle Clifton-Carmack had recently separated from her husband, and the victim reportedly claimed to have been a factor in the dissolution of her marriage. Detectives approached Clifton-Carmack at Laquey High School.
Upon seizing her phone, authorities uncovered text messages that corroborated the allegations of her involvement with the 16-year-old student. The student who initially reported the relationship also mentioned Clifton-Carmack’s overly friendly behavior towards students and her tendency to wear clothing that was either excessively tight or revealing, which had led to multiple warnings from school administrators.
In an additional development, Mark Creighton, the father of the student involved in the incident, has also been charged.
