57-year-old model Paulina Porizkova was subjected to ageist comments after posting bikini photos on social media. Despite this, she responded with a powerful message about body positivity and self-love, proving that age is just a number.
She began her career at a young age.
Born in 1965, Paulina Porizkova began modeling at 15 and graced the covers of top magazines. She acted in films, TV, and music videos. Her recent writing is lauded for candor and insights into beauty, grief, and loss.
The 57-year-old model strongly opposes ageism in both her personal life and society.
Porizkova, aged 57, challenges ageist stereotypes by modeling and posting bikini photos on social media. She strongly opposes negative comments about her age and continues to inspire women. She said: “I am a 57-year-old woman, and it seems to mean, in society, when you go into your middle age, you sort of lose your license to be able to show up in bikinis too.”
Porizkova, Ric Ocasek’s late iconic band The Cars frontman, was married to him for 28 years. In an interview, she candidly spoke about their estrangement before his passing in 2019 and the relationship’s ups and downs: “I just noticed that we shared less and less, and we communicated less, and then he sort of stopped desiring me.”
Expressing uncertainty about aging, Porizkova admitted, “Since I was hitting my late 40s and early 50s, I think I figured, maybe he doesn’t fancy me because I’m getting older.”
Paulina Porizkova advocates for celebrating aging in women.
As a vocal advocate for aging celebration, she refrains from plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures, embracing the natural process. She said: “My desire is to be an unaltered older woman.”
Porizkova appreciates physical signs of aging, as she expressed, “What I like about my face now at 57, it’s that it’s like a really good novel of the history of my life, like it’s all written into my face.”
Apart from her personal preferences, Porizkova stresses the significance of transforming societal perceptions of aging. Encouraging women to celebrate their achievements and age, she said: “We have to make older cool, I’m really trying, but we need more women to sort of embrace age and keep trumpeting it out there, going ’look at what I’m doing at my age.’”
Paulina Porizkova’s advocacy work and personal example have made her a formidable force in promoting self-love at all ages and redefining aging.
