Savannah Combs, a 23-year-old from Middleburg, Florida, was ecstatic to learn she was expecting twins. The surprise was even more special as both twins were diagnosed with Down syndrome. Despite knowing they might face judgment, Savannah and her husband Justin Ackerman viewed their children’s uniqueness as a precious gift.

At 29 weeks, Savannah gave birth to Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman on May 12, 2021. Born two months premature, the twins spent weeks in the NICU. Savannah revealed that her daughters aremono ditwins, meaning they had individual sacs but shared a placenta, making them identical. The combination of identical twins with Down syndrome is extremely rare, with only one in 2 million births.

Savannah emphasizes that her daughters are just like other children, with feelings, a beating heart, and the ability to learn. Although their development may be slower, she is confident they will reach every milestone.
