TikTok CEO Shou Chew expresses disappointment over the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew finally spoke out following the U.S. House of Representatives’ approval of the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. In a TikTok video, he shared his thoughts, urging users to engage with senators and uphold their constitutional rights.


Chew’s video, posted Wednesday night, garnered over 18 million views, 3.4 million likes, and nearly 89,000 comments within just 12 hours. In the video, he addressed the disappointing House vote, aiming to dispel misinformation and clarify TikTok’s stance.

Expressing gratitude for users’ support, Chew emphasized TikTok’s efforts to safeguard data and maintain a manipulation-free platform. He warned of the legislation’s potential consequences, stating it could result in a TikTok ban in the U.S., benefiting a few social media giants while harming creators and small businesses.


Highlighting TikTok’s role in empowering millions of U.S. businesses and enabling users to freely express themselves, Chew underscored the platform’s significant impact on American society.
