“Fake” lawyer who won dozens of cases has been arrested
BBC News reported that the individual, practicing under the name Brian Mwenda, was actually impersonating a legitimate lawyer named Brian Mwenda Ntwiga.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, the impostor had represented clients and won numerous cases in front of Magistrates, Court of Appeal Judges, and High Court Judges.
An emergency investigation was launched to determine how Mwenda was able to access the real lawyer’s account and assume his identity. The real Brian Mwenda Ntwiga had alerted the Secretariat after he found himself unable to log into the legal system and noticed discrepancies in his personal details.
Following these revelations, the fake lawyer was subsequently arrested.
