Jenner is accustomed to social media controversies, but the backlash regarding her daughter’s ear piercing and parenting has been especially severe. Critics vehemently oppose piercing a baby’s ears, labeling Jenner as “cruel” and “thoughtless.” Some question whether she plans to adorn her child with large earrings now that her ears are pierced, expressing concern over the impact on a baby’s still-developing ears. One user wrote, “Is she going to start putting big earrings in her [ears] now [they’re] pierced? A [baby’s] ear is still forming and growing at that age,” while another follower commented, “Piercing a babies ears!!!! @kyliejenner be ashamed of yourself. This is utterly disgraceful.”

While ear piercing for babies is often considered safe, medical professionals caution against the potential for infections. Some advise waiting until the infant reaches approximately 4 months of age. Yet, the American Academy of Pediatrics lacks a definitive guideline on the ideal timing for ear piercing. They suggest waiting until the child can manage the piercing independently but do not expressly prohibit piercing babies.
